Every piece of headware starts with either a colour in mind or a theme.
In the case of commissioned pieces, it is down to the brief of the client.
If it is a commissioned piece , then it is as a result of a number of conversations between the client and I. Wedding pieces are exciting to do , because there is normally not only the bridal head piece but also bridesmaids and on some occasions, a page boy or flower girl .
Having said that, every piece has its challenges, whether it's a specific colour, whether it's silks or tartan, not to mention its theme; all pieces challenge you into producing a unique and eye catching piece of headware.
The enjoyment I get from seeing a rather plain hat, develop into a piece of art that someone can wear, stays with me long after I have handed over the headware to the client.
